Julian Palfrey

Cllr Julian Palfrey has served on the Town Council from 1987 to 1999 and since 2007. He sits on the Amenities and Environment Committee, Twinning and Tourism Committee and Cemetery Committee.
Cllr Palfrey is also the Pershore Town Council representative for Public Transport and Council for the Protection of Rural England.

Cllr Palfrey’s Personal Bio:
Born and bred in Pershore and educated locally in Pershore and Evesham I then worked as a journalist for local weekly papers in the county and also in Yorkshire and the Lake District before becoming a promotions assistant in the PR department at the British Railways Board in London in 1979.

I moved back to Pershore in 1983 becoming manager at the travel agency in Pershore – Wanderers World Travel for 24 years before joining Central Trains (and later London Midland and West Midlands Trains) as a retail travel advisor based at Worcester and still working full time.

First elected to Pershore Town Council in 1987 serving one term for St Andrews ward and then switched to Holy Cross ward and re-elected in 1991 and 1995. Took a break from local council work from 1999 for nine years returning at a by election in 2008 and have served on the council ever since. I am former chairman of Amenities and Environment Committee and Tourism and Twinning Association and Town Mayor 2021-2022.

Founder member in 1978 of the Cotswold Line Promotion Group which works to safeguard  and improve rail services on the Hereford-Worcester-Oxford Line – and chairman of The Vale Public Transport Group. Committee member and former chairman of Pershore Heritage and History Society, committee member for Pershore Midsummer Brass and a news selector and reader for Pershore Talking Newspaper.
